The Picks:

Winging It HC – Graphix releases a graphic novel about family, friendship and self-discovery. Moving from California to Virginia wasn’t what twelve-year-old Luna wanted to do. She doesn’t want to live with her formal grandmother she hardly knows, even if her dad is excited to introduce her to the area where her late mother grew up. Her curiosity is sparked when, during a visit to the National Museum of Natural History, she learns about the luna moth, which she is named for. Luna, who has always preferred the indoors, uses her mother’s old naturalist notebooks as a guide to see a real luna moth with her own eyes. As she embarks on this new journey to learn more about nature, Luna just might make a new friend, figure out her feelings about her new home life, and understand the mother she never got the chance to know. Fans of the bestsellers Allergic and Squished will love this charming and funny graphic novel. [Check out Esther Keller’s review!—Ed]

Witches Of Pepperwood Bay Volume 1 GN – Papercutz releases a cozy graphic novel for middle-grade readers. The witch sisters Juniper, Lily, and Clover are ready for anything as the caretakers of the magical lighthouse portal overlooking Pepperwood Bay. Keeping the peace there is no easy task! When their neighbor Ms. Fiddleneck alerts them of her missing magic teapot, the trio set to work using their talents to save the day—and the best brew in the village. Navigating the bonds of siblinghood, the sisters work their magic, with the help (and hindrance) of a variety of mythical creatures, to keep their fantastical home safe. This cozy fantasy is filled with tropical magic and mystery.
